Iron-Ore Prices Set To Rise - Promotional Steel Products May Follow Suit
In a bid to fully inform all our customers of the latest industry news and trends, Brilliant Promotions would like to point out the recent trend in iron-ore pricing, as confirmed by Vale do Rio Doce – the World’s largest iron-ore producer.
Steel makers have agreed to the 65 percent increase in iron-ore prices from April 2008. This is setting a global benchmark for prices which are less than many analysts had estimated. Some analysts had estimated prices rises as high as 80 percent.
There has been talk in the market expecting a 35% to 50% price increase in stainless steel and steel material costs, which will eventually lead to an increase in production cost of 18% to 25%. This production cost increase will reflect on all new and / or reorders of certain steel based promotional products from the Far East as soon as our costs go up, which is believed to be in and around May, 2008. We shall, of course, aim to keep customers up-to-date with developments.
This price rise will affect iron and steel based products - such as promotional soft enamel badges, printed steel badges, branded steel key chains and personalised trolley coin style key chains.
We will endeavour to absorb as much of the increase as possible, but with such a large increase it will be impossible for us to absorb it all. Now would be a good time for all customers of these product areas to consider placing new and repeat orders for 2008 stock purposes and Brilliant Promotions shall endeavour to contact as many customers as possible with this news to stave off any unwanted news.
